Swallowing Assessments

  • Swallowing difficulties, or dysphagia, can significantly impact a person’s ability to enjoy food and drink safely, affecting both physical health and overall quality of life.

A thorough swallowing assessment is essential in identifying the specific causes of these difficulties and developing a tailored treatment plan to address the individual’s needs and aims to pinpoint the underlying causes of swallowing issues, such as aspiration risk, muscle weakness, or structural abnormalities and ensures the safety of swallowing, reducing the risk of choking, aspiration pneumonia, and malnutrition.

Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices Assessments

  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices assist individuals who cannot speak by helping them express themselves and understand others. AAC devices enable users to communicate their needs, preferences, and ideas, which supports their relationships, education, and safety.

Assessment

Our primary focus is to understand each client’s unique circumstances and goals. We begin by conducting a thorough evaluation of the communication or swallowing challenges they face. This in-depth assessment allows us to develop a personalised plan tailored to address the client’s specific needs and help them achieve their goals.

Therapy Plan

Drawing on our clinical expertise, evidence-based practices, and collective experience, we create a personalised therapy plan that outlines the most effective therapeutic and functional solutions for each client. We take the time to walk clients through the plan, ensuring they fully understand the recommended approach and addressing any questions or concerns they may have about the therapy process and what to expect.

Reflective Practice

We understand that our clients’ lives are dynamic, with circumstances often changing over time. As therapy practices evolve, technology advances, and our clinicians continue to grow through ongoing professional development, we remain committed to adapting and improving our approach. We prioritise keeping treatment plans relevant, effective, and engaging by regularly reflecting on each client’s situation and integrating the latest best practices into their personalised treatment plan.

Advocacy & Support

We offer training and guidance to loved ones, family members, caregivers, advocates, and other healthcare professionals to help them effectively support our clients.

When clients are part of a multidisciplinary care team, we work closely with all involved to ensure that their treatment plan is fully integrated and enhances the broader support services they receive.
